Highlights from the Conference
YBC 2023 was a great success, with over 150 students attending from colleges and universities across the Northeast! Here are some photos from our events.
Welcome Address
Dean Vincent Wilczynski of the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Sciences gave the Welcome Address. Company representatives of our Silver Sponsors then gave presentations on the exciting new innovations they were developing.
Career Fair
Attendees had lively and productive conversations with representatives from companies ranging from industry giants to exciting startups.
Keynote Speaker
Dr. Benjamine Liu, founder and CEO of TrialSpark, shared his story and advice on breaking into biotech entrepreneurship as a young founder.
Bench to Bedside Lecture
Dr. Laura Niklason, Nicholas M. Greene Professor in Anesthesia and Biomedical Engineering at Yale, talked about the setbacks and successes she encountered as she turned her vision of making engineered human tissue into a reality at Humacyte.
Research Symposium
23 student-researchers from different universities presented their work to faculty and fellow students. A panel of four Yale professors in biomedical engineering awarded the top three poster presentations with prizes of $100, $75, and $50.
Biotech VC Panel
Biotechnology founders imparted valuable wisdom to students and shared the joys and challenges of launching their own startups.
Graduate School Panel
Biomedical engineering Ph.D. students and alumni reflected on their academic journey to their current positions at Yale.
Industry Panel
Panelists offered helpful tips to attendees interested in pursuing careers in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.
Medical School Panel
Residents and medical students shared the unique journey they each took that put them on the road to becoming a physician.
Closing Address
Professor W. Mark Saltzman, founding chair of Biomedical Engineering at Yale, offered encouragement and advice to attendees as they prepared to return to their respective universities.
